The Telegraph (UK) features Kishonna Gray, UIC assistant professor of communication and gender and women’s studies

The Telegraph (UK) features Kishonna Gray, UIC assistant professor of communication and gender and women’s studies, in an article that examines what impact, if any, violent video games has on behavior versus the influence of recruiters within gaming communities. The article highlights Gray’s work on gaming groups and she details her experiences and findings while researching far-Right gaming communities.  The article reads: “In her experience, these groups are more about allowing people who already have extreme views to hang out with each other and receive validation than about proselytising or recruiting. She is also clear that most gaming communities are ‘thriving, loving, helping and nurturing communities,’ and that the ‘toxic’ political ones are a minority. But they are often those that ‘speak the loudest,’ meaning they make outsize waves.” The article is available, via free registration, at: http://bit.ly/2MSLwlu
