About
Diem-My Bui, Clinical Associate Professor, has taught courses in communication, methods, Asian American studies, film and media studies, popular culture and oversees internship participants. Bui focuses on research that includes transnational gender and media studies, critical cultural studies, ethnic studies, popular culture, and film. More specifically, she studies cultural production, cultural memory, and the embodiments of difference in racial and sexual representations in popular culture.
Bui is the author of scholarship on popular culture and media, monster culture, Vietnamese Americans, authoethnography, performativity, and war discourse published in journals and edited collections. Her book, co-edited with Marina Levina, Monster Culture in the 21st Century: A Reader (2013, Bloomsbury Academic), explores monster narratives as a response to a rapidly changing cultural, social, political, economic, and moral landscape in the 21st century.
