About

Tracey is a PhD student in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She came to UIC from Canada after 20 years of journalism work, including many years as a freelance journalist for The Guardian, Associated Press, CBC, The Atlantic, Fortune, and many other outlets. After completing her Master’s degree, she taught undergraduate courses in digital media and freelancing at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Tracey wrote the 2023 book BLEED: Destroying Myths and Misogyny in Endometriosis Care and is currently writing her second book. Her research interests include the media’s effects on the public, online radicalization, political alienation, and inequality.

She is originally from Montreal, Quebec, and speaks English, French, and Spanish. She lives in Chicago with her two cats.
