Peter Royal is a PhD student in the communication department at the University of Illinois Chicago. His research interests broadly pertain to the social and ethical implications of technology for communication and culture and include human-machine communication, political communication, and misinformation and disinformation. His past research has examined media framing of social issues, the role of technology in public deliberation, and users' perceptions of emerging technologies.
