Samuel Hardman Taylor is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sam studies the uses and effects of mobile phones and social media, with a focus on interpersonal communication and relationships. He researches the implications of social media for social relationships, such as romantic relationships, families, and friends. His work also explores how to prevent cyberbullying and online harassment. Sam has worked on interdisciplinary teams to develop new tools for conducting social media analytics, which combine computational data with traditional experimental and survey studies. His work has appeared in the Journal of Communication, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, New Media & Society, Communication Research, Computers in Human Behavior, Cyberpsychology, Social Networking, and Behavior, the Proceedings of the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI), and the Proceedings of the ACM Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW).
